about the store…
Joyce Peters (hurray!) is the owner of this independent bookstore, Leona Hoegsberg (another hurray!) is the manager, and Elise, Dominique, Marisa, Cari, Wendy, Saren, Nic and Rhoda are the hard working staff members. The store is filled to the brim with books for ages infant to 16 years, and with educational toys from around the world. We have picturebooks, workbooks, history books and science books for all ages. (that’s Joyce and Katie Hutches in the upper picture, and Leona at the bottom.)
The store was named for the game “Mother May I”, wherein children ask to take Giant Steps. It is the belief of the entire staff that children should take the biggest steps they can, to reach their potential.

Drive on 880 to the Mowry exit, take Mowry East. The very first stop light after the highway offramp is Farwell Drive (it’s got a Chevron station on the corner). Turn South (right) on Farwell. On the right-hand side you’ll see the gas station, a hotel, and then a small shopping center. Within the first set of shops, closest to the street, you’ll find Giant Steps! (on the right is Marisa Macias on Cinco de Mayo!)
